The Story Behind Kaituna Camp by Amelia and Georgia

      The Story Behind Kaituna Camp.

Hey guys our names are Amelia and Georgia and we are the publishers of this blog. This is our recount of camp, changed into a story, ENJOY.

Once upon a camp there were two girls  who were in room 14. Their names were Amelia and Georgia, they were happier than usual today but that was probably because they were just about to go to Kaituna camp. But before they could go they had to wait for the whole class to arrive (which they did).

They all went through the carpark to get to the horse float as a class, placed all their gear inside, hopped in their cars and drove to Halswall Quarry.

As soon as they got there, they clambered out of their cars and met up with their friends , gathered around the park rangers so they could tell us about the history of the quarry and take us on a walk. Part of the history was that there were 9 men who worked at the quarry, their job was to break up rock at one spot and take it to another spot ( what a boring job).

So they made us carry little pieces of rock to the next stop we had ( by the way we had about three stops).

When we got to the next stop they told us that the men had to carry rocks about three times the size of their rocks the same distance as they did all day. OMG imagine how tired they would get. They also told them some rock names: metamorphic, igneous... Then they walked for about two hours in the boiling hot - it was horrid.

After the walk was finally over, they got back into their cars . "NEXT STOP KAITUNA CAMP".

As soon as they got there, they practically jumped out of their cars (luckily not landing in any poo), just wanting to explore but they had to unpack and then do water watch. The best part probably was fishing for the bugs and sorting them into categories.

At dinner time they had hamburgers, milo and baking. They sat in a square type shape and talked about what they will be tackling tomorrow on the big mountain, what their goals were and how they were going to get there.

The very next day they got into walking gear, put on their face paint and they slip slop slaped, and started up the mountain.

Along the way they make up some little tunes...

I don't know what I've been told,
There's lots of cow poo on this road,
Stinging nettle all around,
Keep some foxglove by your side
How old is this big old tree,
Give it a hug and you will see,
Yummy cookies shared around,
Make sure you don't drink all your water down.

FIVE HOURS LATER

(we need a picture of the class at the top to the mt)

4 hours later

"we finished yay'' they all said.

That night they had a really fun camp concert, shared some jokes and scary stories ooohhh, had supper and went off to bed.

Day 3 was fun (apart from packing up). They did some team work activities, by the way the A team smashed in flipping the bag, doing the riddles and stuff, but Something Nice cainned in the iceberg challenge and they sort of deserved to win. After that they left, went to the church and that was the end of ROOM 14'S KAITUNA CAMP 2013.

THE END

Hope you enjoyed!
